Things are getting extremely busy in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) as eight different sports _ Baseball, Beach Volleyball, Flag Football, Lacrosse, Tennis, Track & Field, Water Polo and Boys Weightlifting _ will reach the Postseason over the next week.
First up was Water Polo, which wrapped up District Tournaments last Thursday and will complete Regional Play tomorrow (Thursday).
Leading the way is the powerful program under Head Coach Ryan Atkinson where the Boys won their fifth consecutive Seminole Athletic Conference Championship and followed that up by winning their third consecutive Class 1A-District 2 Championship, while the undefeated (26-0) Girls won their third straight SAC title and fourth Class 1A-District 2 Championship in a row.
Also winning District Championships were the Oviedo High School boys and Lake Howell girls in Class 1A-District 3.
The Class 1A-Region 1 Tournament is being hosted by Seminole High School at the Larry A. Dale Aquatic Center with the Semifinals being played today (Wednesday) with the Girls games at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. and the Boys games at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Championship Games will be tomorrow (Thursday) with the Girls at 5 p.m. and the Boys at 6:30 p.m.
