Every day is Earth Day at Wekiva Island, but on Friday, April 24, this Seminole County business is celebrating in a big way.
Wekiva Island will dedicate an entire day to sustainability and conservation with its fourth annual Earth Day Celebration. The day includes favorite activities and new events surrounding art and education with valued community partners.
The schedule includes:
- A River Cleanup with Keep Seminole Beautiful from 8 to 10 a.m.
- An Eco Paddle Tour with Conservation Florida led by Ned Johnson of Paddleboard Orlando from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
- A Watercolor Journaling Session with artist Peter Pettegrew from noon to 1 p.m. at the Beach Club
- An Animal Encounter with the Audubon Society from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Tooting Otter Craft Beer & Wine Bar
- An Animal Encounter with the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Tooting Otter Craft Beer & Wine Bar
- Beer sampling with Sierra Nevada from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
- The Pop Up for the Planet: Riverside Market from 4 to 8 p.m. around the Island
- An Eco Tote Workshop with Craft Club Orlando at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. in Gallery CERO
- A Clothing Swap with Sustainable Sisters of Florida from 5 to 7 p.m. in the VIP Cabana
- An Herb Gardening Workshop with Grow Your Soul from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Beach Club
- An Earth Day Mural Reveal with Justin Skipper near the volleyball court
- The Wekiva Plays Kid’s Activity with Idea Bar from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Canoe Cabana
- An Eco Talks panel at 7 p.m. in the Classroom
- The Sounds of Wekiva live music series at 7 p.m. in the Tooting Otter Craft Beer & Wine Bar
This year’s event includes a larger market, which will be set up around the Island, as well as several new activities, including the Eco Paddle, Watercolor Journaling Session and Mural Reveal. The day is meant to marry Wekiva Island’s core pillars of education, sustainability and art into a tangible, fun experience that showcases Central Florida’s unique natural resources.
All events are open to the public, though some require additional tickets or registration.
