Preserving our Future. Program examines navigating environmental law to protect Seminole County
Who: League of Women Voters of Seminole County (LWVSC) - Margaret Stewart
What: LWVSC Hot Topic Program
When: Thursday, April 23, 12 to 1 p.m.
Where: Embassy Suites, 225 Shorecrest Drive, Altamonte Springs
Why: Seminole County’s environment is at a tipping point as local voter-approved rural protections face mounting pressure from development interests and legislative challenges. The weakening of the rural boundary - designed to limit sprawl and protect aquifer recharge, wetlands, and natural lands - combined with continued development pressure, threatens long-term water quality, air quality, and flood resilience.
Add the uneven federal/state enforcement of air and water standards to the mix, and the region risks irreversible impacts to its natural systems and quality of life. How can we legally keep Seminole County Florida’s Natural Choice?
