Spectrum today announced a donation of $2500 to Meals on Wheels through the company’s employee-driven grants program that recognizes the value of community service, Spectrum Employee Community Grants. The program recognizes the value of community service by supporting organizations where Spectrum employees volunteer.

Spectrum and Seminole County Commissioner Jay Zembower will recognize Meals on Wheels with a special ceremony and check presentation. The event recently took place at Meals on Wheels, 2801 S. Financial Court in Sanford.

“Through Spectrum Employee Community Grants, we continue to provide support to vital community organizations like Meals on Wheels with which our local employees are already volunteering their time and talent,” said Doug Underwood, Area Vice President, Field Services. “Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work locally.”

The grant will support Meals on Wheels’ mission to respond to the growing needs of disadvantaged seniors with nutritious meals and socialization through the Home Delivered Meal program.

“This investment builds real community,” said Meals on Wheels Executive Director Mike McKee. “Socialization and love provided by our volunteers, along with meals prepared in our own kitchen benefit both our senior clients and our volunteers. Thank you Spectrum.”
