Sanford's Ride to Freedom proudly announces its signature event, scheduled for May 16. The Ride will celebrate Florida's historic Emancipation Day and invite cyclists from all over to journey through the rich Black heritage sites in Central Florida.
Event Highlights
The 5th annual ride will feature cycling routes of 12, 28, 45, and 60 miles, culminating in a community celebration at Hopper Academy, one of Sanford’s historic African American schools. Riders will experience meaningful landmarks, including Georgetown, Goldsboro, Bookertown, Midway, and the Orlando/Sanford International Airport, blending cultural discovery with a scenic cycling adventure.
Since its founding, Ride to Freedom has grown into a signature event in Sanford—bringing together cyclists, families, and community members to honor history while promoting unity, wellness, and outdoor activity.
Proceeds from the event benefit Get Sanford Cycling, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to empowering children in the Sanford community to lead active, healthy lives through programs like youth community rides, bike maintenance services and cycling workshops.
2026 Goals and Sponsorship Opportunities
As the Ride enters its 5th year, organizers are working to make this event bigger and better than ever. The 2026 goal is to bring together over 300 cyclists collectively riding more than 10,000 miles and 400 event attendees, in celebration of freedom, unity, and community wellness.
Businesses and individuals are invited to partner in this historic year through sponsorship levels ranging from Bronze ($350) to Platinum ($3,000). Sponsors will gain valuable brand visibility through event t-shirts, banners, marketing materials, and social media campaigns.
Each sponsorship tier offers unique engagement opportunities, including free registrations, event booth space, and inclusion in giveaway bags.
