Wildlife on the Edge

Friday, May 15, 9 to 11 a.m., Ed & Imogene Yarborough Nature Center, 3485 N. County Road 426, Geneva. $8 per person. For ages: 7+ (children must be accompanied by an adult). Celebrate Endangered Species Day by getting up close with some of Florida’s most fascinating and rare wildlife. Discover the challenges these species face & how the Natural Lands Program works to protect their habitats. Meet live animals like the Eastern Indigo snake, Gopher Tortoise & American Alligator. Ondraneika Williams Lupus Awareness Walk

Saturday, May 16, 6 a.m., followed by a picnic from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Coastline Park, 900 W. 9th Street, Sanford. The Ondraneika Williams Lupus Foundation, Inc. will host the 6th Annual Ondraneika Williams Lupus Awareness Walk. Event is in remembrance of Ondraneika Williams, a Sanford resident during National Lupus Awareness Month. The Foundation’s goal is to provide awareness, education, and resources for those suffering with this disease, focusing on early detection of the disease in young people. Event will feature a Lupus Awareness Walk along the sidewalks through Historic Goldsboro, beginning and ending at Coastline Park and along 9th Street, French Avenue, Historic Goldsboro Boulevard, Olive Avenue, 12th Street, Pecan Avenue, 10th Street & Poplar Avenue.  The community picnic will include guest speakers, vendors providing services for lupus, a DJ, bounce house & snacks for the kids. 


 

Cranes Roost Summer Block Party

Saturday, May 16, 4 to 8 p.m., Cranes Roost Park, 274 Cranes Roost Blvd., Alt. Spgs. City of Altamonte Springs’ Block Party with a free, action-packed celebration. Live music, splash-worthy water fun, exciting interactive games & nonstop entertainment for all ages, variety of vendors offering themed activities, indulge in delicious food & refreshing drinks.


 

Trucks Gone Wild - Truck Tugs

Frog Songs: Identifying Frog Calls in Florida

Saturday, May 16, 7 to 9 p.m., Ed & Imogene Yarborough Nature Center, 3485 N. County Road 426, Geneva. $8 per person. For ages: 7+ (children must be accompanied by an adult). What animals are croaking in your backyard? Listen as you learn to distinguish the calls of local frog & toad species through expert instruction & interactive exercise.
