SANFORD — What a wonderful Wednesday.
On an excellent evening for sailing, followed by a going away celebration for Jose and Noe Acuna, who will soon be moving back to Spain, the Lake Monroe Sailing Association held its monthly Ladies on the Lake Wednesday Night Series as part of the Wednesday Night Goslings Rum Race.
With the combination of the two events, there were actually two overall winners as Terry Warren directed his Multihull Boat Class-winning vessel to the Goslings Rum Race victory over Wicklow Way and Rich Gailey, the Displacement Boat winner, and Bad JuJu, with Kim White at the helm, which was the Planing Boat winner.
White and Bad JuJu was also Ladies on the Lake overall winner and Planing Boat winner, ahead of Patti Miller, who piloted Fleur de Mer III to second place overall and first place in Displacement Boat. Angie Hayden on Gen 4 rounded out the podium.
The group then had a great time at Filomena's Pizzeria & Ristorante for the awards ceremony and the celebration for the Acuna’s. Big thanks go to Monique for providing the yummy SPAIN cake and to Ana for the pretty flowers!
