Nearly 300 local hunger fighters recently came together to raise over $370,000 for Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. The funding generated at this year’s Ultimate Garden Party presented by Glenda G. Morgan Foundation and supported by CoreGiving will help provide 1.5 million meals for Central Floridians experiencing food insecurity.
Ultimate Garden Party attendees recently enjoyed an afternoon filled with live music, craft cocktails, savory hors d’oeuvres and casino games at the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek. Local merchants set up an exclusive Trunk Show and donated a portion of their sales to Second Harvest Food Bank.
As costs for food and other basic necessities continue to rise, more families are facing difficult decisions about household expenses each month. Second Harvest and its network of community feeding partners are seeing a sustained, elevated need for assistance across its seven-county service area.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who continues stepping up to support our neighbors facing hunger,” said Derrick Chubbs, President and CEO at Second Harvest. “The generosity shown through events like the Ultimate Garden Party helps ensure families, children and seniors across Central Florida can access the nutritious food they need to thrive in their daily lives. This community’s support truly makes a difference.”
