Seminole County resident Donny Daugherty was recently awarded a Seminole County Fire Department (SCFD) “Citizen Life Saving Award” for rescuing a patient from a burning vehicle after it crashed near an electrical transformer with another vehicle.

The event took place at SCFD Fire Station 21, 681 Seminola Blvd. in Casselberry.

The accident occurred on February 12, 2024 at approximately 6:30 p.m. near a utility box near Seminole Boulevard and Geneva Legacy Lane. When SCFD crews arrived, the drivers were outside their vehicles and were helped by bystanders – Daugherty being one of them.
