LMSA

Shifty Sunday winds during the Sine Metu Jameson Irish Whiskey Race proved to be quite the challenge, with nearly every leg of the race turning out to be upwind.

Olivier Fleury and Bill Holstein found themselves aground while heading to Marker 8, but despite this setback, Fleury rounded Marker 8 ahead, with Holstein and Fisk Hayden closely behind. As the race progressed, Fleury and Fleur de Mer III extended the lead significantly and held a strong advantage when he rounded the Rum mark. Holstein and Hayden took different tacks toward Rum, but Holstein managed to pull ahead and rounded the mark first.

However, the wind filled in from behind, allowing the lead trio to finish in dramatic fashion nearly simultaneously. In a thrilling conclusion, Fleury clinched the victory by a mere 35 seconds over Holstein, with Hayden securing third place.

Meanwhile, two boats lagged over an hour behind, struggling to navigate around Marker 8 due to the unpredictable wind shifts. They eventually rounded both markers and finished, albeit drenched. One boat withdrew from the race, and while it was uncertain if they (Matt Sherren on Ladyhawke) even started, they still walked away with the bottle.

This past Wednesday, Rich Bailey on Wicklow Way dominated the Breezeway Rum Race, winning by 2:55 over Andy Forrest and Show Me, with Fleur de Mer III, under Steve S., finished third.

   Here are the results:

Eight teams are represented in the league’s Top 11, including the Pride. The award marks Banda's third Best XI of the year, with the Zambian striker also having been voted to the Best XI each month of the 2026 season so far.

Banda is the current NWSL Golden Boot leader after scoring 11 goals in 12 games across the 2026 campaign. In the month of May, Banda recorded six goals and one assist. Two of those goals were game-winning goals, both of which came at home at Inter&Co Stadium, first in a 1-0 win over the North Carolina Courage on May 8, and then a 3-1 win over Bay FC on May 29. Banda tallied two braces during the month of May, with the first coming against the Washington Spirit on May 2, and the second coming in that same 3-1 win over Bay. Banda currently sits second all-time on the Pride’s scoring list having netted 36 goals in 54 matches across all competitions.
