SANFORD — Throughout the 2026 season, the Florida Collegiate Summer League will honor two players at the conclusion of each week, an FCSL Player of the Week and an FCSL Pitcher of the Week. This week's honors represent performances from Friday, May 29, through Saturday, June 6. The weekly honors are selected via a vote of league coaches and officials.
The first Florida League player of the week is Leesburg's Kaden Thompson (Georgia Southern). Thompson has been a driving force in the Lightning lineup, consistently producing at the plate and helping spark the offense. He collected 11 hits in 25 at-bats, including four doubles, while scoring 13 runs and driving in 13 more, finishing the week with a .440 batting average, .520 on-base percentage, and .611 slugging percentage. Thompson is currently the FCSL leader in runs scored, hits, walks, stolen bases, and on-base percentage.
Thompson's numbers are not only significant on a Florida League level, but a national one as well. The Flowery Branch, Georgia native is currently the NACSB national leader in stolen bases with 14, and is second in the nation in runs scored with 13. He also ranks in the top five in the nation in total hits.
Earning the FCSL's first Pitcher of the Week award is Winter Park's Ty Uchman (Grand Valley State). In just two appearances, Uchman has posted a perfect 2-0 record while allowing no earned runs across 5.2 innings pitched. He owns a spotless 0.00 ERA and an impressive 0.53 WHIP, demonstrating his ability to keep opposing hitters off the bases. Opponents are batting just .118 against him, further highlighting how difficult he has been to square up.
Uchman made his season debut on June 1, tossing 1.2 innings against the Winter Garden Squeeze, allowing just one hit and one unearned run. His best outing came at Melching Field in DeLand on June 5, when he tossed four scoreless innings and struck out five Suns in a 4-1 win, the second victory of Winter Park's sweep over DeLand.
Additionally, the Florida League honors one player from each team that was not selected as Player or Pitcher of the Week.
