After the crash there was a confrontation between two people, who were arrested which later led to a footchase, said Nicole Brown, Public Information Officer of the Sanford Police Department.

According to Brown the suspect was driving a red Kia car that rear-ended the back of the victim’s car, gets out of the car, fights the victim, slips into the back of the victim’s car and took items from it. Afterwards, the suspect gets back into the red Kia and flees the scene.

As of right now the suspects are being held custody within Orange County. The suspect's car was later found in Orange County. The only suspect that the Sanford Police Department knows of right now is Robert Lee Smith. They don’t know the nature of the relationship between Robert and the passenger as well as why they got into an altercation. The investigation remains ongoing.
