You are going to be hard-pressed to beat what has been going on with youth baseball programs in Northern Seminole County as both Sanford Babe Ruth and Lake Mary Little League have seen their All-Star teams put up some remarkable results.
But the highlight has been what the Sanford Babe Ruth 8U All-Stars and the Lake Mary Little League Junior All-Stars did this past week.
The Sanford 8U All-Stars followed up their Babe Ruth District 4 Championship by winning Sanford's first ever 8U Machine Pitch State Championship at Live Oak last weekend.
After cruising to the District Championship with wins of 12-1 and 17-3 over the Flagler All-Stars at Port Orange, the team coasted to the State title with wins of 10-0 over Melrose, 12-4 over the Santa Fe Diamond Pigs, 19-0 over Melrose in the semifinals and then defeating a very good Argyle team, 10-0, in the Championship Game.
Now 6-0 in the Postseason, the 8Us will now take off a couple weeks to prepare for the Southeast Regional Tournament in New smyrna Beach starting on July 7.
But if it is possible, the Lake Mary Junior All-Stars were probably even more impressive, as the squad made up mostly of players that won the Little League World Series Championship in 2024, made its initial Postseason foray to face the Palm Coast Junior All-Stars in a Best-of-3 Series for the District 19 Championship.
And it was a complete mismatch from the get-go as Lake Mary won the opening game last Monday (June 15), 23-0, and then followed that up with a 19-0 thumping of Palm Coast on Wednesday (June 17) in the second game, both victories end the games after only four innings by the Run Rule.
The Juniors will be playing in the Sectional Tournament this weekend, traveling to Merritt Island on Saturday (June 27) to take on the SALL Junior All-Stars at 10 a.m. and the MILL Junior All-Stars at 1 p.m.
But the Juniors were not the only Lake Mary Little League teams to win District 19 titles as the 8-9-10 Year Old boys defeated DeLand, 7-1, in the Championship Game and will be playing in the Sectionals in Mims on the 27th, and in softball, both the 8-9-10 Year Old All-Stars and 10-11-12 All-Stars also won District 19 Championships and will be advancing to Sectionals.
