Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF) – in collaboration with WFTV 9 Family Connection – is once again holding a summer collection drive to assist families facing food insecurity.
Between now and July 11, non-perishable staples, such as peanut butter, beans, rice, canned meats and vegetables, can be dropped off at any Goodwill store in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. Donations will be divided between two other local nonprofit organizations: Annabel’s Closet, an organization that assists individuals leaving abusive situations, and United Against Poverty, which empowers Central Floridians to achieve sustainable economic self-sufficiency through a range of programs and services.
“At Goodwill, our mission has always been centered on helping people build better futures, and that starts with making sure our neighbors have access to basic necessities,” said Ed Durkee, President and CEO at GICF. “As more individuals and families seek assistance across the region, we’re proud to partner with WFTV, United Against Poverty Orlando and Annabel’s Closet in addressing a growing need across our region. This effort reflects Goodwill’s commitment to ‘Building Lives that Work’ by ensuring our neighbors access the nourishment and resources they need to succeed.”
For more than a decade, Goodwill and WFTV 9 Family Connection have partnered on summer drives to address hunger across Central Florida.
