SANFORD — Throughout the 2026 season, the Florida Collegiate Summer League will honor two players at the conclusion of each week, an FCSL Player of the Week and an FCSL Pitcher of the Week. This week's honors represent performances from Monday, June 15, through Saturday, June 20. The weekly honors are selected via a vote of league coaches and officials.
For the second time this season, a Leesburg Lightning player was named Player of the Week, with Dylan Green (Winthrop) winning this week's award. Green was a bright spot for the Lightning offense during a challenging week, batting .474 with nine hits, six RBI, six runs scored, and three doubles across five games. The infielder led the team in hits and extra-base hits while providing consistent production throughout the week.
Green has been a lynchpin in the Leesburg lineup throughout the season to date, leading the Lightning to their spot at the top of the Florida League standings. The California native ranks fourth in the FCSL with a .375 batting average, and is second in the league with 13 stolen bases. He also ranks among the league's top ten in both on-base and slugging percentage.
The third FCSL Pitcher of the Week was awarded to Winter Garden's Kaden Howell (Santa Fe). Howell was dominant across five innings of work during Week 3. He earned the start in Winter Garden's victory over Winter Park on Monday and then closed out the win against Leesburg on Friday. Across both appearances, Howell recorded eight strikeouts without issuing a walk.
Howell has been one of the Florida League's best through his first five appearances of the season, logging a 1.46 earned run average across 12.1 innings. He has flashed dominant stuff with 20 strikeouts in those 12.1 innings, and has posted a WHIP of under one (0.97). The Lakeland native has not allowed an earned run in his last seven innings of work.
Additionally, the Florida League honors one player from each team that was not selected as Player or Pitcher of the Week.
