It was another big week for Seminole County youth baseball and softball All-Star teams.

Teams from Sanford Youth Baseball, Lake Mary Little League Softball and Altamonte Baseball Academy all had teams either win championships or advance to the next level of their respective associations.

Sanford Youth Baseball has advanced two teams to the Southeast Regional Tournaments.

Last week, the Sanford 8U All-Stars followed up their Babe Ruth District 4 Championship by winning Sanford's first ever 8U Machine Pitch State Championship at Live Oak, posting a 4-0 record while outscoring their foes, 51-4, winning three of the games, including the semifinals and Championship games by shutouts.

The 8U’s (6-0) will now advance to the Babe Ruth 8U Machine Pitch Southeast Regionals at the New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex from July 7-thru-July 12.

Sanford’s 9U All-Star Team will also be advancing to the Babe Ruth Southeast Regionals after finishing as the State Runner-Ups in Lake Oak this week.

The team got off to a fat start, roaring to a 12-2 victory in its opening game, but dropped its second round contest, 10-5, and had to battle back out of the Loser’s Bracket.

The 9U’s stayed alive on Saturday with a 10-6 triumph, rallying from a 6-1 deficit to earn a spot in the Championship Game.

The Sanford nine put up a valiant fight, but dropped an 8-7 decision to finish second.

But the Runner-Up finish still earned the squad an invitation to the Babe Ruth 9U Southeast Regionals in Kent, Virginia, the week of July 7-thru-July 12. The 9U’s will be the first Sanford representative to go to a tournament outside the State of Florida.

Three other Sanford teams came up short in their attempts at winning a State Championship.

The 10U All-Stars won their opening game, 14-1, but then dropped their next two contests.

The 11U All-Stars also won their opening game, 1-0, but then dropped their second game, 12-3, before winning an elimination game, 12-0, before being eliminated themselves in Jacksonville Beach.

The 18U All-Stars were doubled-up in their opening game, 14-7, but bounced back with a 9-6 triumph before being eliminated in Jacksonville Beach.

The Altamonte Baseball Academy had its first team qualify for the Babe Ruth Southeast Regionals when the 10U All-Stars finished as the State Runner-Ups and will travel to Iredell County, North Carolina, on July 14.

The ABA 10U went 4-0 in winning the District 11 Championship, outscoring its foes, 31-13.

The team then went 2-2 in the State Tournament in Auburndale and is now 8-2 in the Postseason with a scoring advantage of 41-22.

Lake Mary Little League Baseball and Softball sent seven teams to District, Sectional or State tournaments this past weekend, but still had a team win a title.

The 9U Softball All-Star Team went 3-0 in winning the Florida District 19 Softball Rising Stars Tournament this week.
