Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida recently celebrated 17 participants who completed its Culinary Training Program.

On Saturday, June 13, family members, friends, community supporters and program partners gathered at 411 Mercy Drive to honor the individuals who completed the free course designed to prepare adults for entry-level jobs in the food service industry. Second Harvest Food Bank Board Chairman and longtime Disney executive Perry Crawley recognized their accomplishments during a keynote address.

Since launching in 2013, more than 555 participants have completed the program. The course is offered to eligible adults and combines hands-on culinary instruction with job readiness training and career support services that help job seekers build a foundation for long-term success.

“Today’s graduation is a time to celebrate the remarkable commitment and perseverance shown throughout this journey,” said Derrick Chubbs, President and CEO at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. “This group of job seekers are determined to create new opportunities, strengthen their futures and build greater stability for themselves and their families.”

Participants receive occupational assistance and career-matching services as they pursue employment opportunities in Central Florida’s hospitality and food service industries.

Applications are currently being accepted for upcoming job training courses, including the first Customer Service cohort. The next Culinary Training cohort begins August 3. For more information or to apply, visit FeedHopeNow.org/CareerPathways.
