A dedicated member of the Sanford community, Alan Dickey, died Aug. 29, 2025. Alan’s life was one of service to his community, as he served as a respected judge, community leader, mentor, and friend.
Dickey's legacy was honored June 5 by the Rotary Club of Sanford, a service organization to which he dedicated more than 50 years.
Alan joined the Rotary Club in 1975, while also serving as a respected judge in Seminole County. While being a member of the Rotary Club of Sanford, Alan acted in ways that benefited his community and helped the city of Sanford prosper.
To commemorate the life of a man who gave so much to the community, the Rotary Club of Sanford gathered on June 5 at the civil courthouse to honor the life and legacy of Alan Dickey.
Family members, friends, colleagues, and fellow Rotarians also presented a donation in his memory to Companions for Courage. This organization was especially meaningful to him because it provides specially trained therapy dogs to comfort child victims while they testify in court.
“It was a fitting tribute to someone who spent his life serving others and advocating for those in need,” Kimberly Walker, president of the Rotary Club of Sanford, said about the gathering held in his honor.
