Oviedo City Leaders recently dedicated a ceremonial Liberty Tree at Oviedo City Hall to celebrate the nation’s Semiquincentennial.
The planting of the Liberty Tree, which is a Hickory Tree, celebrated history and community spirit and represented 250 years of independence as a nation.
The American Legion Post 243 kicked off the event with a presentation of colors, a flag retirement and a 21-gun salute. Mayor Megan Sladek read a proclamation and the keynote speaker was Seminole County Commissioner Bob Dallari. There was a ribbon cutting at the end.
