Professional Boxing returns to Sanford for 10 Match Card at the Ritz Theater

MSP is bringing Professional Boxing to the Ritz Theater for the third time. Topping the 10 bout event will be Sanford’s own Josh “Supa” Butler, who will take on Carl Brock Walker in a 6-round Heavyweight matchup.

   SANFORD — As Michael Buffer says,  “Are you ready to rumble.”

   Sanford will get a taste of a Las Vegas Fight Night this coming Saturday when Mike Sawyer Promotions brings an evening of Professional Boxing to town for the third consecutive year.

   “Rumble at the Ritz 3” will present an action-packed night of pugilism at the historic Ritz Theater in the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center with a 10-Match Card featuring 44 rounds of boxing under the auspices of the Florida Athletic Commission.

   The featured match will see Sanford native son Joshua “Supa” Butler putting his power on display against Carl Brock Walker in a Heavyweight bout scheduled for six rounds.

   Butler, who lives in Midway, is looking forward to performing in front of his hometown fans.

   The 6-foot-5, left-hander, is a former Golden Gloves standout as an amateur and is known for his hard hitting and knockout prowess.

   Also scheduled for Saturday night are:

   * Oscar Membreno vs. Marcus DeCamp, Super Flyweight, 115-pounds, 4 rounds.

   * Tristan Gallichan vs. Marcello “Curica” Williams, junior welterweight, 140-pounds, 4-rounds.

   * Dante “Tae-Wolff” Concepcion vs. Juan Aguirre, super welterweight, 154-pounds, 4 rounds.

   * Zayveon Mitchell vs. Cleveland McClean, super featherweight, 130-pounds, 4 rounds.

   * Ezequiel “Bad Company” Martinez vs. Dashaun Johns, junior welterweight, 140-pounds, 6 rounds.

   * Ismael Najera Jr. vs. James Bodnar, middleweight, 160-pounds, 4 rounds.

   * Hernando Walthall vs. Tony Sekele, super bantamweight, 122-pounds, 4-rounds.

   * Omari Peebles vs. Steve Confer, super welterweight, 154-pounds, 4 rounds.

   * Enrique Murga vs. Matthew Mumford Owens, middleweight, 160-pounds, 4 rounds.

   It has also been announced that their will be a VIP Guest _ Bishop Kelvin L. Cobaris _ who will bless the card and fighters.

   Another special guest will be local recording artist, announcer and leader Michelle Archival, who will be singing the National Anthem.

   “Love watching boxing, but have never experienced it live?” said promoter Mike Sawyer.

   Doors will open at 5 p.m. at The Ritz Theater/Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center (201 South Magnolia Avenue) with First Bell set for 6 p.m.
