SANFORD — Veteran captains Fisk Hayden and Jim White dominated the podium in Lake Monroe Sailing Association racing this past week as each claimed a victory and a third place finish in the two races contested.
The action started last Saturday (August 10) with the monthly running of the LMSA Members Club Race Series, sponsored by Sanford Brewing for the Hayden Trophy.
But for the third consecutive month, the event was affected by the weather and only one of the three scheduled races were run.
In Race #6 of the series, it was Hayden piloting Gen 4 to victory by just over 3/4-second over Blackjack, with Bill Holstein at the helm. Bad JuJu was awarded third place under the direction of White.
Then on Wednesday (August 14) White leapfrogged Bad JuJu to the top step of the podium over Plan B, under Ray Laguna, and Gen 4 with Hayden at the wheel.
Bad JuJu also claimed the top spot in Planing Bat, while Plan B was No. 1 in Displacement Boat, while Terry Warren took his unnamed vessel to fourth place overall and No. 1 in Multihull Boat.
Following the racing action, the competitors and fans made their way to Filomena's for an awards ceremony and an evening of social activity.
