Best Friends Animal Society, a leading animal welfare organization working to end the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters in 2025, proudly announced that Seminole County TNVR (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) has been recognized with the Social Action Champion Award at its inaugural Advocacy Awards.
The awards ceremony, held during the Best Friends National Conference in Orlando, Florida on July 12, 2024, honored Seminole County TNVR, led by Andrea Hubbs, was recognized for her relentless advocacy and TNR efforts in Seminole County, Florida. Since its inception in November 2021, Seminole County TNVR has helped over 2,500 cats and played a crucial role in the 'Change Save Seminole' Social Action Campaign. Hubbs’ work not only enhances the safety of community cats but also sets a standard for effective community engagement and advocacy in animal welfare.
"We are thrilled to recognize Seminole County TNVR and Andrea Hubbs for their profound impact on animal care in the community," said Julie Castle, CEO, Best Friends Animal Society. "Their passion and commitment have made a significant impact in advancing our mission towards a no-kill nation."
“These awards not only recognize the incredible achievements of our advocates but also underscore the collective impact of dedicated individuals and organizations across the nation,” said Castle. “Each winner has shown that change is possible through passion, persistence, and advocacy, bringing us closer to a no-kill future.”
“Seminole County TNVR is honored to have received this award and recognition from Best Friends Animal Society and to play an important role in not only helping and saving the lives of community cats, but to also help educate and change the way community cats are treated. It’s vital for everyone to do their part in supporting community cats, and we’re here to help residents of Seminole County achieve this goal,” says Hubbs.
Given the recent slowdown in pet adoptions since pre-pandemic levels, this year’s conference emphasized that if just 6 percent more Americans looking to acquire a pet chose to adopt instead of purchase, the U.S. could achieve no-kill status.
