Seminole County Aims to Provide Voting Transparency

Seminole County Government Television (SGTV) will broadcast the Seminole County Canvassing Board meetings leading up to the August 20th election.

The County Canvassing Board members are Judge Carsandra Buie, Jay Zembower and James Hartmann. Every election in Florida requires a board to protect votes and certify the electoral process.

The board is responsible for public testing of equipment, vote-by-mail ballots, automatic and machine recounts, submission of election returns and more.

Zembower, the Seminole County Chairman, is looking forward to providing transparency to the community. “ This [broadcast] will allow residents to observe the critical work done by the Board to ensure the integrity and accuracy of our local elections,” he said. “We encourage all residents to tune in and witness firsthand the meticulous efforts that go into ensuring every vote is counted accurately.”

SGTV is the official government television channel of Seminole County. It provides residents with access to live and recorded County meetings, events and other local government programming. “SGTV aims to give residents a clearer understanding of the processes that uphold the integrity of Seminole County Elections,” according to a statement from Seminole County News.

The meetings began on Wednesday and will run from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. until Monday, August 19, when the meeting starts earlier at 3 p.m. On election day, broadcasting will begin at 4 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.

You can watch on Spectrum Channel 498 or the county website. SGTV also livestreams county meetings and on demand programs on Seminole County’s youtube.
