The Oviedo Fire Department continues to prioritize their commitment to drowning safety through new alarms.
The Wesley Seth Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting water safety and preventing water-related accidents , generously donated door and window alarms. The alarm activates when a door or window is opened while the system is on.
The initiative stems from Florida children ages 0-9 having the highest child drowning rate in the country. Children in Florida are naturally curious about water, and living in the state increases exposure to it. These are one of the ways to make sure children are tended to and to prevent drowning in swimming pools, lakes and ponds.
