The City of Sanford is about to get a major boost in care and treatment through a new emergency room facility.
At Monday’s city meeting, the CEO of AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, Jeff Villanueva, gave Sanford residents an exciting announcement involving new healthcare.
“AdventHealth is committed to meeting Central Florida’s growing healthcare needs in the years ahead. We’re working on new facilities, specialties and services so that no one needs to leave the community for the care that they need,” he stated.
“I’m very excited to announce our plans to build our newest free standing emergency department right here in the City of Sanford,” Villanueva said.
In February, AdventHealth secured a 4.71 acre property near the intersection of Lake Mary Boulevard and East Lake Mary Boulevard in Sanford for $5.3 million.
Villanueva says this state of the art facility will provide enhanced and quality emergency care services to the community. The location is set to have 12 private patient rooms, respiratory therapy, diagnostic imaging and a full service lab, all staffed by a comprehensive clinical team, including board certified emergency physicians and nurses. The facility is projected to be completed by the third quarter of 2025.
The groundbreaking for the new ER will take place on September 10.
