SANFORD — The month of August came to an end with a new face atop the podium in Lake Monroe Sailing Association (LMSA) racing as Wicklow Way, with Rich Bailey at the helm, won the Wednesday Night Goslings Rum Race, ending a short two-race win streak by Gen 4 under the guidance of Fisk Hayden.
Hayden and company had won their second straight race when they took the checkered flag in the monthly Sine Metu Jameson Irish Whiskey Race on Sunday ahead of Terry Warren and his unnamed Multihull boat and Fleur de Mer III, piloted by Olivier Fleury.
The Hayden’s actually forfeited their chance to continue the win streak as they did not take part in the final Wednesday Night Goslings Rum Race of the month on a wet and stormy evening and Gailey took advantage, leading Wicklow Way to victory over Fleury and Fleur de Mer III and Show Me, with Andy Forrest at the tiller.
