Two men have been taken into custody in Seminole County after they were caught on surveillance cameras at a gas station holding what appeared to be a deputy's firearm.
The arrest affidavit indicates that the incident took place at a RaceTrac in Oviedo at 5:30 p.m. when a deputy came in to use the bathroom. The report stated that he took off his vest and gun belt while doing so. When he left to answer a service call, the deputy realized that his gun was missing from his belt.
After not finding the gun when he returned to search for it, surveillance footage showed the two men leaving the gas station. The men, 26-year-old Chance Roberto Byron and 23-year-old Damari Isaiah Able were seen leaving the store and Byron left the bathroom with a noticeable bulge. They were both later arrested at their homes.
The suspects are now facing charges of grand theft of a firearm, dealing in stolen property, and failure to report lost or abandoned property.
