COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
The Knights (3-0) remained undefeated with a sweep _ 3-0 (25-21, 25-23 and 27-25) _ of host Stetson (2-2) at Insight Credit Union Arena at Edmunds Center on Thursday.
UCF’s Avah Armour set a career-high with 18 kills and two blocks. Alexia Kuehl tallied nine kills and a block. The blocking duo of Abby Schomers and Sasha Cohen each accounted for five blocks.
Anabelle Standish led the way for the Hatters with 15 kills and 11 digs. Nyah Molina had 27 assists and 12 digs. Haruka Sugimoto and Jenna Simmons tied for the team lead in digs with 17 and Kayla Balfour led the team in blocks with seven blocks.
The Hatters faces UNC-Wilmington on Friday and the Knights will battle the Seahawks today (Saturday) at 2 p.m.
STETSON FOOTBALL
Stetson (1-0) will host Warner University (0-0) at 6 p.m. tonight (Saturday) at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium in DeLand. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
Gates and ticket windows open at 5 p.m. Parking lots open for tailgating at 4 p.m. There will be a live band playing in lot 5 beginning at 4 p.m.
The North Ticket Booth includes visiting team will-call, Stetson student admission, general ticket sales and ADA patrons. The South Ticket Booth will be for Stetson team will-call as well as general ticket sales.
UCF FOOTBALL

The Orlando Pride (13-0-5, 44 points) hit the road and head to SeatGeek Stadium to take on the Chicago Red Stars on Sunday. The match is set to kick off at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on NWSL+ and locally on Bally Sports Florida.

SOAP BOX RALLY
The City of Sanford Parks and Recreation Department and Central Florida Soap Box Derby will be hosting its opening Rally of the 2024-2025 season with the September Rally on Saturday, September 14, at Mike Kirby Park.
The entry fee is $55 for one entry and $100 for two-or-more siblings. The final day to enter is Wednesday, September 10.
Check in will be at 7 a.m. each day, with racing beginning at 8 a.m. and the each day consisting of a Double Elimination race for each class in the morning, followed by a lunch break and a Single Elimination race for each class in the afternoon.
Soap Box Derby racing is open to children ages 7 to 20 _ Stock, 7-to-13; Super Stock, 9-to-18; Masters, 10-to-20 _ with a limited number of loaner cars available for new participants as well as individuals who wish to make a trial run to see if they would like to participate.
Everyone, especially interested non-racers, is invited to attend any of the family friendly events, free of charge, at beautiful Mike Kirby Park located on the west side of Sanford on Oregon Avenue, north off of CR-46A (25th Street/H. E. Thomas Parkway) or east off of Rinehart Road, just south of the GreeneWay entry. The track is East of Bentley Elementary School.

UCF WOMEN’S SOCCER
After a 55 minute delay due to lightning in the Tampa area, the UCF women’s soccer team found itself on the wrong end of a 1-0 decision to South Florida on Thursday night at Corbett Soccer Stadium.
USF’s Elyse Thornton found the back of the net in the 86th minute to break a scoreless tie.
The result marks the Knights’ first setback of the season, as they fall to 2-1-2. The Bulls improve to 4-1-1 with the victory.

The Knights will return home to begin Big 12 Conference play, as they welcome Houston to town on Thursday. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start at the UCF Soccer Complex.
