SANFORD — A stormy evening did not scare away the female captains who wanted to display their skills on ‘their’ night, and they made the most of it, not only competing in the monthly Ladies on the Lake Wednesday Night Series, but also dominating the regular Lake Monroe Sailing Association (LMSA) Wednesday Night Goslings Rum Race.
Led by Angie Hayden at the helm of Gen 4, who claimed first place overall, in Displacement Boat and Ladies on the Lake Series, distaff sailors swept the podium and also finished in five of the top six places in the Goslings Rum Race.
Finishing second was Show Me, under Diane Forrest, while Lisa Gailey was third directing Wicklow Way.
Nancy Harrington on Mannanan picked up a first place sticker for winning the Multihull Boat Class.
The monthly running of the Ladies on Lake Series as part of the Goslings Rum Race allows female sailors to pilot a boat in preparation for the annual Ladies on the Lake Charity Regatta, which will be contested on Saturday, October 12.
