Seminole County 4-H, a youth development program in partnership with Seminole County Government and University of Florida IFAS Extension, continues to offer enriching opportunities for youth to learn and grow outside of the classroom. Through hands-on experiences, this youth development program is designed to help children and teens develop valuable life-skills.
A large variety of activities are offered by the program and focus on public speaking, food and nutrition, agricultural science, gardening, and leadership. The non-profit emphasizes these activities aimed at helping young participants discover their interests and passions.
Two free introductory 4-H fundamental sessions were scheduled in August for parents interested in learning more about the program .at the Extension Seminole County building, located at 250 W. County Home Rd. in Sanford and another at the West Branch Library, located at 245 N. Hunt Club Blvd., Longwood. Call for additional dates.
In addition to these sessions, Seminole County 4-H hosts a family night on the first Tuesday of each month. These events are open to children ages five and up, along with their families, and feature a different topic and hands-on activity each time. The theme for September’s family night will be entomology—the study of insects. It will be held at the Extension building in Sanford, with sessions available at 6:15 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.
