The Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC) announces the award of nine 2024-25 SCAC Grants at its annual community meeting held on September 3RD at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center-Ritz Theater in Sanford.
In 1995, the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners designated SCAC as the official recipient of Florida ARTS Specialty License Plate funds. With the support of the Board of County Commissioners, SCAC has so far awarded more than $380,000 in grants to organizations and individuals offering art and cultural programs in Seminole County.
This year’s grantees are:
• Hagerty High School Band Boosters) in the category of Education/Education Outreach for band instruments for the Huskies, $1,000
• Johnson Hill-Washington Heights Community Outreach in the category of Cultural/Historical Organization for their Black History/Juneteenth Program and other events related to Black History Month, $2,000
• Love Your Shorts Film Festival in the category of Cultural/Historical Organization for their Film Festival in 2025, $2,000
• Orange Blossom Blues Society, Inc. in the category of Education Outreach for the Blues in the Schools Initiative, $2,000
• St. Johns River Festival of the Arts in the category of Education Outreach for their Art for Kids Area, $2,000
• Seniors for a Better Community (SFBC) in the category of Community Outreach for the Community Cultural Arts Exchange Program, $500
• Society for Historic Casselberry in the category of Cultural/Historical Organization for their “Night of the Mystic Arts” Festival, $1,000
• Ritz Theater at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center in the category of Cultural/Historical Organization for the Juniors Repertory Company, $2,000
• Wekiva River Players, Inc. in the category of Cultural/Historical Organization for their High School production of “Six: Teen Edition”, $1,000.
The SCAC is a registered public 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and a member of the Florida Association of Local Arts Agencies. The Council serves, supports and nurtures the cultural and artistic needs of the Seminole county. It is an advocate for the preservation of local cultural and historic heritage, including performing, literary, and visual arts & sciences and serves to sustain, develop and advance the cultural life of Seminole County.
