Photos contributed _ Lake Mary’s Noah Grubbs (No. 13) threw for five touchdowns (three to No. 4, Isaiah Thomas), while Seminole and Oviedo announced these young men as their best of the week.

   Blowouts were the story of the evening as District Play for the FHSAA teams kicked off this Friday.

   Seminole (5-0), Lake Mary (3-2), Oviedo (4-1), Orangewood Christian (3-4) all scored at least 43 points and won by more than 15 points, while surprising Winter Springs (4-1) pulled out a tough 21-15 victory.

   There was one shocking decision on the evening as defending SSAA State Champion The Master’s Academy (5-1) fell to The Providence School from Jacksonville, 37-34, at home.

   Here are a few recaps:

Seminole 61, Lake Brantley 8

   Michael Clayton II threw for four touchdowns and ran for another as visiting Seminole took a 47-0 halftime lead and eased past Lake Brantley (2-4) in Altamonte Springs.

   Clayton was 9-for-19 passing for 120-yards and the four scores and carried the ball four times for 24-yards, while back-up QB Jeysen Williams (1-for-2, 5-yards) also threw for a touchdown to Langston Wade, Anthony Gay III (6-catches, 70-yards) and David Parks (2-catches, 41-yards) each caught two touchdown passes and Khamani Robinson ran for 114-yards on nine carries and a touchdown.

   Defensively and on Special Teams, RJ (Robert) Hampton Jr. had an interception, blocked a punt (which he returned for a touchdown), recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown and recovered two fumbles and Jorden Pittman recovered a fumble and blocked a punt.

Seminole 61, Lake Brantley 8

First Quarter

SHS _ Parks 31 pass from Clayton (kick failed).

Second Quarter

   SHS _ Hampton blocked punt recovered (2-point pass failed).

   SHS _ Gay 26 pass from Clayton (Allen kick).

   SHS _ Clayton 2 run (Allen kick).

   SHS _ Gay 42 pass from Clayton (Allen kick).

Third Quarter

   SHS _ Hampton 30-yard blocked punt return (Allen kick).

Fourth Quarter

   LB _ Krause 5 pass from French (Krause pass from French).

   SHS _ Wade 5 pass from Williams (Allen kick).

Lake Mary 52, Hagerty 3

   Notre Dame commit Noah Grubbs threw for five touchdowns, all in the first half, as visiting Lake Mary took a 38-3 halftime on its way to a 52-3 drubbing of Hagerty (4-2).

   Grubbs was 13-for-19 for 246-yards with the five TDs and an interception, three of which went to Isaiah Thomas.

   Brian Williams Jr. and Tyree Witherspoon also caught touchdown passes, while Jaysen Soto and Gavin Isaacs ran for touchdowns in the second half.

Lake Mary 52, Hagerty 3

First Quarter

   LM _ Williams 45 pass from Grubbs (Bacardi kick).

Second Quarter

Oviedo 52, Wekiva 27

   High-scoring Oviedo returned from a bye week with a vengeance, racing to a 35-7 halftime lead before causing to a 52-27 victory over Wekiva (2-4).

   Jerome Curry was 7-for-9 passing for 92-yards and a touchdown to Dashon Febres (2-catches, 30-yards), while Chance Nixon carried the ball 15-times for 104-yards and a touchdown, Brock Joyce carried the ball nine-times for 63-yards, two touchdowns and a 2-point conversion and Emiliano Galarza ran for a 14-yard score on his only carry of the night.

   On defense, Joey Gioia returned a fumble for a 30-yard touchdown and Brady Manning had an interception.

   Placekicker Logan Calder had a monster contest as well, making three field goals and all five of his PAT kicks.

Oviedo 52, Wekiva 27

First Quarter

Winter Springs 21, Horizon 15

   Quarterback Makiye McBurse was 11-for-16 passing for 122-yards and two touchdowns and also carried the ball 10-times for 69-yards and another touchdown as host Winter Springs rallied for a 21-15 victory over winless Horizon (0-6).

   Anthony Valentin led the Bears in rushing with 74-yards on 17-carries, while Jaiden Roberts (3-catches, 47-yards) and Johan Torres (2-catches, 21yards) had the touchdown receptions. Tristen Raines caught six passes for 54-yards and also ran for seven yards on two carries.

Orangewood 43, Trinity Prep 0

   Orangewood Christian built a 29-0 halftime lead and never looked back in disposing of Trinity Prep (0-5).

   Quarterback Tre Roach was just 3-for-6 for 73-yards passing, but two of the completions went to Luke Askew (1-catch, 47-yards) and Dean Ramsey (2-catches, 26-yards) for touchdowns.

   Fred Augustin (4-carries, 72-yards) ran for a pair of touchdowns, while Askew (5-carries, 42-yards) and Ramsey (2-carries, 27-yards) also ran for touchdowns.
