Meals on Wheels, Etc. is a nonprofit that has been serving seniors in Seminole County for over 50 years, providing a host of services that include home-delivered meals, neighborhood dining centers, transportation, home assistance, weatherization and more.
Recently, community leaders, donors and sponsors came together and raised critical funds to support the Meals on Wheels, Etc. mission. With nearly 150 attendees at the Longwood Community Building, the organization’s first annual Giving Breakfast exceeded expectations, generating more than $24,000. The donations will directly impact the lives of seniors in Seminole County, who rely on Meals on Wheels Etc. for daily nourishment and companionship.
“We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support we received from donors during our first Giving Breakfast,” said Mike McKee, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels Etc. “Even in its first year, this makes it one of our most successful fundraisers. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, sponsors and supporters, we can continue to serve seniors in Seminole County, delivering not just meals, but hope and human connection.”
The event featured inspiring stories from seniors who have benefitted from the program, a presentation from the Executive Director and a keynote speech from Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma, who shared a heartfelt appeal to continue supporting Meals on Wheels Etc.’s mission.
Sponsors of the event included Cheney Brothers, Inc., Cogent Bank, AAA and AdventHealth, whose contributions played a pivotal role in making the Giving Breakfast a success.
As the senior population continues to grow in Seminole County and the community ages, the needs are expanding significantly. Meals on Wheels, Etc. is dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by this vulnerable population, offering both meals and companionship to those who need it most.
