SANFORD — Will Mother Nature spoil a year of preparation and an excellent final Ladies on the Lake Wednesday Night Series contest as part of the Wednesday Night Goslings Rum Race last week?

The second Ladies on the Lake Charity Regatta is schedule to run today (Saturday, October 12), but with Hurricane Milton romping through the area this week, it may be impossible to run the event at this time.

If the race goes off as planned, a portion of the proceeds from the regatta will go towards Harvest Time International.

Ladies! Come out and sail against the best sailors in central Florida! Here is a list of the competitors and where to register _ https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/28294.

Led by overall and Displacement Boat winner Angie Hayden on Gen 4, female captains claimed the top five overall finishing positions.

The final tune-up for the female pilots was an awesome one, with seven distaff pilots finishing in the top right, including sweeping the top five places.

“The Regatta is a different format this year to encourage all women to come out and steer a boat! Anyone can crew, but ONLY ladies can drive!,” said Patti Miller. “The course will be the same format as Wednesday Night Races with race committee starting and finishing the fleet. The course and all marks to be used will be decided and discussed during the skipper’s meeting the day of racing.

“Dinner, Awards and a 50/50 Raffle will be held after the Race at the LMSA Club House with all proceeds going to Harvest Time International LLC in Sanford. Registration and Check-in are open from 11:30 a.m.-to-12:30 p.m. and the Skippers Meeting is at 1 p.m. First Flag is at 2 p.m. Spread the Word! Please invite any sailors you think will be interested.”
