Fossil Fair

Bugging Out! Insects Around You & Starting a Collection

Saturday, Oct. 19, 9:30 a.m. to noon, UF/IFAS Extension Seminole County, 250 W County Home Road, Sanford. Will cover the Major Insect Orders in Florida, Basics of Insect ID, Insect Collection and Pinning, Insects as Art.  You'll go home with some insect art, information on how to put together an insect collection & pinning kit, and a better understanding of the creepy crawlies in your garden. Family Fun Camp Out- Haunted Woods

Saturday, Oct. 19, 2 p.m. & Sunday, Oct. 20, 9 a.m., Geneva Wilderness Area. This event is tailored for families with children ages 4 and up who want a crash course in camping. Meals included. We will have tent pitching assistance, a live animal program in the nature center, fishing (conditions permitting), hiking, and desserts and stories around the campfire. Swang Day Car Show

Saturday, Oct. 19, 3 to 9 p.m., Sanford Plaza, 2921 S. Orlando Drive, Sanford. Mr. Martin, a Sanford resident, requests to host this car show as an annual celebration of life, in remembrance of his brother and as a fundraiser for Christmas gifts for children in Sanford. Expect over 300 vehicles with a $20 entry fee.

Florida 4-H Food Challenge Team Captains Workshop

Mondays, Oct. 21 & 28, 6 to 8 p.m or Wednesdays, Oct. 23 & 30, 9 to 11 a.m., UF/IFAS Extension Seminole County 250 W County Home Road, Sanford. $5. Open to adult volunteers interested in learning more about how to coach a 4H Food Challenge Team. Teams prepare a dish using randomly assigned ingredients & equipment. Culinary challenge. In the spirit of Halloween, a spooky screening of “The Blair Witch Project.”  Invite your date or group of friends, and don't forget to bring a blanket or a chair. Howl-O-Ween 2024

Saturday, Oct. 26, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Cranes Roost, Altamonte Springs. Franklin’s Friends is proud to present the eleventh annual HOWL-O-WEEN Dog Walk-a-Thon and Canine Costume Contest. We will have a (much shorter than in years past) dog walk, canine costume contest, adoptable dogs, pet-friendly vendors, music and much more. All proceeds will benefit Franklin’s Friends. Denise Ryan from 98.9 WMMO's Morning Show will return to emcee. Morning of fun for the whole family.
