UCF VOLLEYBALL
The UCF volleyball team fell 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-15 and 29-27) in a hard-fought match Wednesday night at the WVU Coliseum.
UCF (8-7, 1-5 Big 12) and West Virginia (7-11, 1-5) each tallied 55 kills but the Mountaineers recorded eight digs and 10 aces. Three Knights notched double digits in kills with Alexia Kuehl leading the pack with 15 kills, Emily Wilson added in 13 while Britt Carlson recorded 10. On the defensive side, Chloe Scheer finished the night with 14 digs. Abby Schomers and Mya Ball split time in the setter position as each dished out 22 assists.

UCF FOOTBALL
The UCF football team (3-3, 1-2) will return to action on Saturday, when the Knights travel to Ames, Iowa, for their first matchup against No. 9 Iowa State. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on FS1 (TV Talents: Trent Rush, Spencer Tillman).

STETSON VOLLEYBALL
The Stetson volleyball team (3-15, 0-7) dropped a close three set match to Florida Gulf Coast Tuesday evening.
The Hatters trailed early in the first set but went on a 4-0 run including kills from Leilani Vitale and Jenna Simmons to pull them team to within two points. Stetson couldn't get any closer than two though, dropping the first set 25-18.
Starting the second set, the two teams battled back and forth with the lead changing hands multiple times. The Hatters used a 3-point scoring run to take an 8-6 lead. Head Coach Yang Deng was able to push the Stetson lead to four after winning her second challenge of the match. The Eagles came back and tied the match at 19 and the two teams started trading blows once again. Each team had multiple opportunities to clinch set point before the Hatters fell in the marathon of a set 31-29.
Stetson fell in three sets after dropping the third set 25-14.
Seven different Hatters recorded a kill in the match with Simmons and Vitale leading the way tallying eight a piece. Elif Yasar finished with a double-double leading the team in assists with 17 while also picking up 10 digs.

UCF MEN’S BASKETBALL
The UCF men’s basketball team will host FGCU (Florida Gulf Coast University) on Sunday, October 20, for a 4 p.m. tipoff in a charity exhibition inside Addition Financial Arena, benefiting Team IMPACT.
Admission to the event is free and fans will have the opportunity to donate to Team IMPACT throughout the contest. Following the game, fans will get the opportunity to meet and greet the UCF players, as well as take photos and get autographs.
Courtside Club, courtside seats and suite season ticket holders will be able to sit in their seats for the exhibition. Seating for all remaining fans is general admission. Doors will open an hour prior to the contest at 3 p.m. and parking is free in garages D, F and H. Concession stands throughout the arena will be open. The exhibition will not be streamed.
Sunday’s exhibition is Knight Nation’s first opportunity to see the Black and Gold in action this season. UCF opens the 2024-25 campaign on November 4 at 7 p.m. with a home contest against No. 13 Texas A&M. The tilt against the Aggies is the first of 18 home contests on this year’s slate inside Addition Financial Arena. The UCF men’s soccer team (3-4-3, 1-3-0 SBC) welcomed the Old Dominion Monarchs to Orlando on Friday and will continue a homestead on Wednesday against Kentucky at 7 p.m. from the UCF Soccer Complex and will be streamed on ESPN+.
SOAP BOX RALLY
The City of Sanford Parks and Recreation Department and Central Florida Soap Box Derby will be hosting its annual Marine Corps Reserve TOYS-FOR-TOTS Rally on Saturday, November 2, at Mike Kirby Park.
Check in for the Marine Toys for Tots Program race will be at 7 a.m., with racing beginning at 8 a.m., consisting of a Double Elimination race for each class in the morning, followed by a lunch break and a Single Elimination race for each class in the afternoon.
There is also a good possibility that there will celebrity races featuring either Marine representatives, City of Sanford elected officials or a parent runoff.
The entry fee is a $55 value or more per racer in NEW TOYS. Pre-Register and bring toys on race day. The final day to enter is Tuesday, October 29.
Soap Box Derby racing is open to children ages 7 to 20 _ Stock, 7-to-13; Super Stock, 9-to-18; Masters, 10-to-20 _ with a limited number of loaner cars available for new participants.
Everyone, especially interested non-racers, is invited to attend any of the family friendly events, free of charge, at beautiful Mike Kirby Park located on the west side of Sanford on Oregon Avenue, north off of CR-46A (25th Street/H. E. Thomas Parkway) or east off of Rinehart Road, just south of the GreeneWay entry. The track is East of Bentley Elementary School.
