Fall Prevention Day Event Aims to Lower a Frightening 1 in 4 Statistic for Older Adults

Fall Prevention Day Event Aims to Lower a Frightening 1 in 4 Statistic for Older Adults

Special to the Herald

Each year, one in four adults over age 65 experience a fall … and the results can be devastating on their health and independence. Senior Resource Alliance – Central Florida’s Area Agency on Aging – wants to ensure its clients don’t live in fear of falling, which is why they partnered with the Winter Park Health Foundation and the Center for Health & Wellbeing to help seniors learn how to prevent a fall.

Together, the organizations recently hosted a free Fall Prevention Day event.

In addition to hearing the latest science on preventing falls from UCF researchers, attendees browsed a community health expo, received free PT screenings with AdventHealth Sports Medicine and Rehab, and practiced Tai Chi from internationally renowned Australian physician Dr. Paul Lam.
