Hagerty boys finish second in Class 4A Cross Country

   The Hagerty High School boys team of Head Coach Jay Getty became the first local squad since 2017 to finish in the Top 2 with a runner-up finish in Class 4A at the FHSAA State Cross Country Meet at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.

   The Huskies, who are the highest finishing local squad since Lyman won in 2014 and Oviedo in 2017, used quantity to finish as the State Runners-Up with two runners _ Jacob Leon and Noah Mott _ finishing in the Top 10 overall and two other runners _ Connor Stromberg and Ricardo Hernandez _ also placing in the Top 40 (the only school to accomplish that feat) to finish with 160 points, second only to the 143 of State Champion Gainesville-Buchholz.

   Also representing Hagerty were Justin Ramsey, Nate Winslow, Alex Zimmerman, Alexavier Davis-Medina and Marek Pezzoli.

   Oviedo (Colin Aysun, Levi Mollica, Aiden Aysun, Brody Aysun, Jack Nugent, Preston Morley, Nathanial Watson) was fourth with 208 points. Seminole (William Heilman, Roman Bugos, Lucas Wells, Mathew Pruitt, Alexander Plummer, Oscar Loredo, Brady Clark) finished 22nd. Robert Gallagher of Lake Howell placed 13th as an individual.

   Other local finishers were:

   In Class 4A Girls, Lake Mary (Cassie Rauchegger, Kaylee Keller, Camryn Barrett, Hope Schoenwetter, Sydney Kalia, Julee Brubaker, Natalee Brubaker) was 14th.

   In Class 1A Boys, Circle Christian (Will Neeld, Aschalew Parker, Jonah Lehman-Saba, Matteo Kirwan, William Head, Michael Kristenson) was 13th and The Geneva School (Michael Liquori, Jaden Houdashelt, Emmett Buffington, Catcher Cunningham, Daniel Silva, Luke Whipple, Caleb Reid) was 29th. Gabriel Silver from The Master’s Academy was 136th as an individual.

   In Class 1A Girls, Rachel Judy from The Master’s Academy was fourth overall as the Eagles (Avery Gervais, Amelia Gogley, Natalie Swigart, Amanda Rodriguez, Haleigh Silver, Elizabeth Deiorcini) placed ninth. Orangewood Christian (Avery McDonald, Isabel Baker, Emma McCully, Amelia Baker, Robyn Schwab, London Wilde, Sarah Jane Roberts) was 15th, The Geneva School (Emili Mosquera, Samantha Petrak, Sarah Goranson, Reese Gallo, Alayna Shepherd, Kate Blanton, Beatrice Frazer) was 26th and Circle Christian (Leah Moury, Callie Gates, Glory Kirchberg, Hannah Joy Prickett, Reagan O’Brien, Abigail Kristensen) was 27th.
