DeBary Honors Local Businesses

DeBary Honors Local Businesses

Special to the Herald

At a recent council meeting, DeBary City Council recognized seven local businesses for their extraordinary efforts in supporting the community in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Milton.  Six of the businesses received certificates of appreciate and the seventh received a key to the city.

In bestowing the awards, Mayor Chasez acknowledged “We are incredibly grateful to these businesses for their unwavering commitment to our community in the wake of the hurricane.  Their contributions not only provided immediate relief but also offered a beacon of hope and solidarity as we worked together to recover and rebuild.”

Crush Supply received a key to the city for their extraordinary efforts in helping to rebuild roads and infrastructure within hours of the hurricane ending.  They supplied a front-end loader to the city, allowing the city to move trees and debris to keep roads clear for emergency vehicles.

They built four roads, major arteries with the city, and reinforced bridges. They even improved a structure to prevent similar events in any future storms.

 Receiving certificates of appreciation were:

Community Church of DeBary for assisting with sandbag distribution and serving as a centralized distribution point for Red Cross clean up kits.

Nonna Maria’s Pizzeria, O’Leary’s Irish Pub, and Pepe’s Cantina, for supplying food for city teams working 16 hour days, allowing the teams to focus on critical recovery tasks.

Enhanced Outdoors LLC for removing trees and debris on Highbanks Road.

D&D Skid Steer Services successfully cleared the roads so emergency vehicles could pass in Glen Abbey.

“I saw first-hand how these businesses came together to support our community is a powerful reminder of the resilience and kindness that exists in DeBary” stated City Manager Carmen Rosamonda.  “Each one played a vital role in our recovery efforts, and this ceremony is a small way of saying thank you for their remarkable service.”
