George Menachery on Events at Partin Elementary School

George Menachery is a 5th grader at Partin Elementary School in Oviedo. He likes writing

and swimming.

Partin Elementary is a very fun school with lots of activities to keep you engaged. Since this is my last year, I will have to keep them in my memory! Here is a list of some of them:

The Storybook Adventure Fest: It’s a time when all the kids can dress up as their favorite characters and locate each door on their map, given to them at the gate, to find teachers from each grade dressed up as characters too! The doors are decorated, and you can vote for the best looking door. The kids will also find candy at each door, and this year, me and my two other friends traded around! It lasts from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on the 24th of October. During this time, people can visit the Book Fair which I will talk about in the next topic.

The Book Fair: The Book Fair is when students bring money, they have an opportunity to buy books and little toys. It was a huge success! It took place from Thursday, October 19, to Friday, October 27, and everyone had a blast. My favorite part of the Book Fair was getting to choose from books in all of my favorite series. Some of the books available included Dog Man: The Scarlet Shredder by Dav Pilkey and I Survived 9/11 by Lauren Tarshis. It was a fun way to find new reads and add to my collection!

Math Madness is happening at our school, and my team is ready to win! In this competition, we answer math questions, with each correct answer earning one point. Our goal is to score more points than the other schools and take home 1st place this year. It started on September 25th. Last year, we finished in 3rd, but this time we're determined to come out on top. One of the best parts of Math Madness is that it brings together 5th, 4th, and 3rd graders, so it's a great opportunity to make new friends and work with teammates of all ages. We’re excited, and I’m confident we can win this year!

This year, our Run Club is faster and more ready than ever to win! Run Club started on October 23 and meets every Wednesday and Friday. It’s a special club at our school run by our P.E. teacher, where students come to school early, head out to the field, and run laps. Throughout the season, there are meets where our runners compete for medals! Our school awards medals to the top runners who finish podium and more.

Lastly, there’s Starshine, an event for 5th graders where we get the chance to perform in     concerts. Our music teacher selects songs for us to learn, and we sing in front of an audience.   This year, we’ll be performing Winter Wonderland, Celebrate With Me by Jerry Estes, Hanukkah   Celebration by Victor C. Johnson, and Winter Fantasy by Jill Gallina for the holiday season. I’m   especially excited because there’s a possibility we could perform at an Orlando Magic game next year! Even though we have to wake up early for rehearsals, it will definitely be worth it!

This was the list of the exciting events happening at Partin Elementary this year.
