ORLANDO — Following disappointing seasons after an anticipated successful campaign, the UCF Athletic Department announced on Saturday and Sunday that changes were coming.
First up, it was reported that UCF Football Head Coach Gus Malzahn had resigned to become the Offensive Coordinator at Florida State University, which was finally confirmed Monday night.
”We would like to thank Coach Malzahn for his contributions to our football program over the past four seasons, including our transition into the Big 12 Conference,” said a statement from UCF. “We appreciate his professionalism and dedication to our student-athletes throughout his tenure at UCF and wish he and his wife, Kristi, the very best in their future endeavors."
And then Sunday afternoon it was announced that Jenny Maurer had been relieved of her duties after two seasons as the Head Coach of the Volleyball Program.
"We would like to thank Jenny Maurer for her commitment and dedication to our volleyball program and student-athletes over the past nine years,” said a statement from the college. “This weekend we met with Jenny to inform her that we would be moving in a different direction regarding the leadership of our program. A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately."
