   SEMINOLE COUNTY (December 5, 2024) — The Seminole County Sports Hall of Fame Committee is accepting nominations for the 2025 recognition class of male and female athletes and contributors now through Friday, February 28, 2025.

Honorees/Criteria:

   Female or Male Athlete _ Nominee must be or have been a Seminole County resident and attained excellence in athletics, in some capacity, in Seminole County. Nominee must be at least 35 years old and graduated from a high school in Seminole County. Nominee must have represented Seminole County in outstanding athletic achievement at the high school, collegiate, professional and/or amateur level. In addition to athletic achievement, consideration will be placed upon the nominee’s off-the-field character, including sportsmanship, leadership, citizenship, and philanthropy.

   Female or Male Contributor _ Nominee must be a Seminole County resident or have a significant connection with Seminole County athletics. Contributors can include but are not limited to coaches, officials, administrators, financial backers, media, and more. Nominee must have served the community for a minimum of seven years. Nominees will have made a significant contribution to Seminole County in sports and athletics. Nominee’s character, leadership, citizenship, and philanthropy will also play a role in the selection process.

   Legacy Award (Male or Female) _ This award is recognizes those male or female athletes or contributors who were active prior to 1999 but are only now being recognized for their prior contributions. Nominee must be or have been a Seminole County resident and attained excellence is athletics or athletic contributions, in some capacity, in Seminole County. There is no age restriction for the Legacy Award. Nominee must have represented Seminole County in outstanding achievement at the high school, collegiate, professional and/or amateur level. In addition to athletic achievement, consideration will be placed upon the nominee’s off-the-field character, including sportsmanship, leadership, citizenship, and philanthropy.

   Inclusion Award (Male or Female) _ Nominee must be or have been a Seminole County resident and attained excellence in athletics, in some capacity, in Seminole County. There is no age restriction for the Inclusion Award. Nominee must have represented Seminole County in outstanding achievement at a sports organization that assists those with intellectual, developmental or other special needs. In addition to athletic or contributory achievement, consideration will be placed upon the nominee’s off-the-field character, including sportsmanship, leadership, citizenship, and philanthropy.

   The Seminole County Parks & Recreation Department is proud to support the Hall of Fame Committee, established in 1982, through staff resources, community engagement and the Night of Champions ceremony in May. Upon being selected, the Committee will contact the recipient and recognize him/her with a plaque at the Seminole County Night of Champions. A press release will also be shared with local media.
