Special to the Herald
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida recently celebrated a milestone of its Culinary Training Program – its 500th graduate.
In November, food bank leaders celebrated with 25 new graduates. Chief Food Service Officer Nancy Brumbaugh, President and CEO Derrick Chubbs and Lead Chef Instructor Israel Santiago presented participants with a certificate of completion and their first set of chef’s knives. Since 2013, 509 graduates have received assistance with job placement before completing the 16-week program, which is free to eligible adults seeking to start a career and/or grow within the food service sector.
Enrollment is underway for the next class, which starts in February 2025.
