Holiday spirit is unfolding at Lawton Chiles Middle School Along with the surprising cold weather, the school works hard to make the month of December fun for the students with different traditions. Some of the school traditions include an after school gathering in the courtyard to watch the Grinch. “It was freezing there,” Audrey Hu explained. “The Grinch was a fun way to be with your friends after school and enjoy a movie together,” Mara Dauner said.
Additionally, a winter band concert took place, playing songs like A Rollicking Hannakah and A Crazy Mixed Up Christmas Concert. The band also rides over to Geneva Elementary School to play holiday music for the students.
The Student Council is a big part of the school traditions. They host a candy cane sale in the courtyard during the morning. Further, the Student Council prepares a winter spirit week at the end of December including days like ‘Dress like your Favorite Teacher Day’ and ‘PJ Day.’
Of course, traditions like the Angel Tree and friends doing ‘Secret Santa’ add to create memorable moments before going off to the Holiday Break. As friends and family gather, please welcome these traditions into your holiday experience.
