   SANFORD — With the end of the 2024 sailing season coming up today (Sunday) with the running of the Sine Metu Jameson Irish Whiskey Race, the Lake Monroe Sailing Association (LMSA) released its results from the penultimate event of the year _ Race No. 12 of the Members Club Race Series, sponsored by Sanford Brewing, for the Hayden Trophy _ on Saturday, December 14.

   Following that race, the LMSA also crowned its Champions for 2024 for the Members Club Race Series, sponsored by Sanford Brewing, with the presentation of the Hayden Trophy and the LMSA Ladies Wednesday Series.

   Andy Forrest at the helm of Show Me was the Overall and Displacement Boat winner of the December Member Club Race over Richard Gailey on Wicklow Way, Shajaira guided by Bob Fellingham and the Olivier Fleury piloted Fleur De Mer III.

   But the Overall Champion and winner of the Hayden Cup for 2024 was Bad JuJu under Jim White with an accumulated 16 points, five better than Show Me and Andy Forrest and 17 points better than third place finishing Fleur DeMer III and Olivier Fleury.

   In the LMSA Ladies Wednesday Series it was Angie Hayden earning the Championship on Gen 4 with 15 points. Diane Forrest on Show Me (21.0 points), Patti Miller on Fleur De Mer III (22.0 points), Lisa Gailey on Wicklow Way (31.0 points) and Nancy Harrington on her unnamed vessel (31.0 points) rounded out the Top 5 finishers for the season.

   The 2024 Ladies on the Lake Regatta has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 12, 2025. The second edition of the annual race was supposed to be held in October, but had to postponed because of the effects from Hurricane Milton.

   * Sunday, January 12 _ The rescheduled Ladies on the Lake Regatta. Enjoy a weekend of sailing at Lake Monroe Sailing Association located in Historical Downtown Sanford. The Regatta is a different format this year to encourage all women to come out and steer a boat! Anyone can crew, but ONLY ladies can drive! The course will be the same format as Wednesday Night Races with race committee starting and finishing the fleet. For planning purposes please RSVP by 1/5/2025. Registration and Check-in are open from 11:30 a.m.-to-12:30 p.m. Skippers Meeting is at 1 p.m. First Flag is at 2 p.m.

   * Saturday, January 18 _ Members After Christmas Party. 4 p.m.-to-9 p.m. at Sanford Elks Lodge, 1006 East Second Street. Members party, white elephant gift exchange, swearing in of the 2025 LMSA board of directors. More information to come....Cash or credit at the bar. Members may bring one guest, i.e. date or spouse. All other guests are $15 per person to help cover food cost.

   * Saturday, January 25 _ The Lake Monroe Mother's Arm Challenge. Come join the LMSA for this unique race through the river of grass at the east end of Lake Monroe. Sail in flat water, with the top half of your sails catching the wind over the wetlands. It’s an exciting navigational and sailing challenge! 11 a.m. skippers meeting. More information to follow. The LMSA looks forward to having you join them! Stay tuned as times may change.

   * Sunday, January 26 _ Sine Metu Jameson Irish Whiskey Race. The start window is 1:25 p.m.

   * Thursday, January 30 _ The monthly LMSA Membership Meeting will be held from 7 p.m.-to-8 p.m. at the LMSA Club House (531 North Palmetto Avenue).
