The Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC) announces 2025 heART for the ARTS Award to Donna Bundy & Diane Merkt

Special to the Herald

The Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC) Board of Directors has recognized Donna Bundy (left) and Diane Merkt (right)  jointly with the 2025 heART for the ARTS Award.

The award acknowledges contributions by a person or group who have partnered with, or who have greatly supported SCAC and/or other art and culture organizations in Seminole County. It recognizes commitment in our community in the areas of local cultural and historic heritage, including the performing, literary, and visual arts and sciences.

Before their respective retirements from the SCAC on October 31, 2024, both Donna and Diane had worked to support the goals of SCAC for more than 12 years. During that time, the pair did far more than the tasks assigned to them in their roles as Executive Director and Program Manager. SCAC would not be the organization it is without the time, dedication, hard work, and efforts of both of these wonderful ladies over the past dozen years.

Donna brought decades of volunteer experience and knowledge of history and preservation in Seminole County from her years of work with the Longwood Historical Commission and as a long-time appointed member of the Seminole County Historical Commission. She helped stabilize SCAC during periods of challenge as the organization was faced with Covid and the hardships that the global pandemic brought.

Diane has been, simply put, the beating heart of SCAC. She kept our world spinning, going far beyond her work of making sure the office was managed, programs ran smoothly, and paperwork was done in a timely manner.

The 2019 heART for the ARTS Award will be presented to Donna Bundy and Diane Merk at the annual Taste of the ARTS Gala on Saturday evening, February 1, 2025 at the new  Casselberry Art Center, 137 Quail Pond Circle, Casselberry, Florida. This exciting event to benefit arts and culture will feature food and wine tastings from local restaurants, a spectacular silent auction, photo booth, art gallery area, music, and performance artists.

For additional information or tickets, call 407-562-2810 or visit www.seminoleculturalarts.org.
