Advent Health welcomes first baby born in 2025

Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies proudly welcomed its first baby of the New Year at 1:20 am on January 1.

Baby boy Derek weighed 7 pounds and 9 ounces and measured 19.25” long. Derek is the son of Davina Nguyen and Erik Kim.

In honor of this special occasion, the Central Florida Diaper Bank is donating a year’s worth of diapers (roughly 3,600) to the family. The organization advocates for and encourages healthy growth, nutrition and development for children from newborn to age three. 

By identifying families’ needs and providing the appropriate resources, the organization aims to promote self-sufficiency. “

We are honored to welcome the first baby of the year with this special donation,” said Sharon Lyles, executive director of the Central Florida Diaper Bank. “These diapers represent more than just meeting a family;s immediate needs. They also symbolize hope, care and a commitment to giving every baby the strong start they deserve.”
