Seminole County Public Schools Announces Finalists for District Teacher of the Year

Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) is proud to announce the three exceptional educators selected as finalists for the district’s prestigious 2026 Teacher of the Year award. These dedicated individuals have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence in education, inspiring their students, colleagues, and communities.

The elementary school finalist is Bailey Hocker from  Endeavor Elementary School.

Ms. Hocker is celebrated for her innovative teaching strategies that foster a love of learning among her students. Her dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment has made a lasting impact on her school community.

The middle school finalist is Cynthia Hardy from Rock Lake Middle School.

Ms. Hardy is known for her engaging approach to teaching, which motivates students to reach their full potential. Her passion for education extends beyond the classroom, and she is often found helping her administrative team, setting up for the science fair, and creating new connections for her class.

The high school finalist is Stevie Place from Lake Howell High School.

Ms. Place is a dynamic educator who inspires her students to excel academically and personally. Her ability to connect with students and encourage critical thinking has set her apart as a leader on her campus. 

“Each of these outstanding educators represents the best of Seminole County Public Schools,” said Superintendent Serita Beamon.

“Their dedication to fostering student success and their innovative approaches to teaching exemplify the excellence we strive for in our district. We are so proud to honor them as our grade-level finalists for Teacher of the Year.” The SCPS Teacher of the Year will be announced at the Teacher of the Year Celebration, scheduled for January 28, 2025. The event will bring together educators, administrators, and community partners to celebrate the accomplishments of these remarkable professionals.
