Mary Virginia Hall
Mary Virginia Hall, 88, of Sanford, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022, at HCA Florida-Lake Monroe Hospital (formerly Central Florida Regional Hospital), Sanford, Florida. She was born in Monticello, Florida, on October 31, 1933, to the late Richard Buckner and the late Maggie Drayton Buckner. She worked numerous years as a domestic worker and as a foster grandparent for the Seminole County Public Schools, Sanford, Florida, at Pine Crest Elementary, Sanford, Florida, for 18 years. Mary was a dedicated member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Sanford, Florida, for more than 60 years, and she served faithfully singing in the choir. She was a seamstress. Mary enjoyed sewing and having conversations with others. Her kind, gentle, and loving spirit will be truly missed by her family, church family, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Jefferson Hall, Sr.; parents, Richard and Maggie Buckner; and 6 siblings.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Mildred Groomes (Donald), Mary Turnage, Benjamin J. Hall, Jr.; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grands; sister, Joan Robinson (Freddie); brother, Samuel Buckner, Sr.; brother-in-law, Ira Hall (Ronnie); sister-in-law, Essie Lee Hall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
We are aware that the state has relaxed the mask order and the social distancing order; however, with an increased number of COVID-19 cases present, we are still asking anyone that will be attending the homegoing celebration service who can and will to please wear a mask, practice social distancing and limit the contact with others who are not in your household. We take extra precautions and efforts to maintain a safe environment for everyone who attends our funeral services.
We want everyone to be safe, so we ask those attending the visitation and/or the Celebration of Life Service to please refrain from hugging, kissing, touching, and having individual contact with other attendees during the service.
The visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, 4 PM - 6 PM at Sunrise Funeral Home, 900 Locust Avenue, Sanford, Florida, 32771.
The Homegoing Celebration Service for Mary Virginia Hall will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 11 AM at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 618 East 10th Street, Sanford, Florida 32771, with Reverend Dr. Sidney Crudup, II, officiating. Interment will be held immediately following the service at Restlawn Cemetery, 1818 West 25th Street, Sanford, Florida 32771.
