NOTICE OF INTENT TO USE UNIFORM METHOD OF

COLLECTING NON-AD VALOREM ASSESSMENTS

 

The Florida Resiliency and Energy District (the "District" or "FRED") hereby provides notice, pursuant to Section 197.3632(3)(a), Florida Statutes, of its intent to use the uniform method of collecting non-ad valorem special assessments to be levied by it over a number of years to fund the cost of qualifying renewable energy, energy efficiency and conservation and wind resistance improvements (collectively, "Qualifying Improvements") for those property owners who wish to undertake such improvements within the unincorporated areas of Alachua, Brevard, Citrus, Collier, Hernando, Jefferson, Levy, Manatee, Marion, Monroe, Pinellas and Sarasota Counties, Florida and any participating incorporated municipality, town or village within the above designated counties; and the jurisdictional boundaries of the cities of Cape Canaveral, Indian Harbor Beach, Satellite Beach, Pensacola, Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, Bonita Springs, Estero, Havana, Fernandina Beach, Longwood, Oviedo, Sanford, Oak Hill, Port Orange, Edgewater, and New Smyrna Beach, Florida as authorized by Sections 163.08 and 197.3632, Florida Statutes, which will allow such assessments to be collected annually, commencing in November 2019, in the same manner as provided for ad valorem taxes

.

The non-ad valorem special assessments to be levied by the District are voluntary and only imposed with the written consent of a property owner wishing to finance Qualifying Improvements.  The governing board of the District will consider the adoption of a resolution electing to use the uniform method of collecting such assessments authorized by Sections 163.08 and 197.3632, Florida Statutes, at a public hearing to be held on December 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the offices of the Florida Development Finance Association located at 156 Tuskawilla Road, Suite 2340, Winter Springs, FL 32708.  Such resolution will state the need for the levy by the District and will contain a legal description of the jurisdictional boundaries of the District.  Copies of the proposed form of resolution may be obtained from Ahisha Rodriguez at 407-712-6352.  All interested persons are invited to attend.
